Exciting Changes for 2015

After being in the pipework for sometime Louise Griffin took the big step to retirement in May 2015 after operating Griffin Conveyancing for over 10 years.

Amber Roberts took over ownership of the business after being Louise's employee and file manager for the last 6 years.

Although a change has taken place the fundamentals at Griffin Covneyancing are still the same. We strive to offer personable service at reasonable rates and create ongoing relationships with our clients for life.

So what ever happened to Louise Griffin?....Well she hasn't gone far. Louise is still living locally and currently concentrating on an inspired home renovation and her plans for future travel.

The good life is still affordable.

Yes, there’s been a boom in real estate in Castlemaine but the good news is, it hasn’t reached its peak just yet.

Recent Real Estate Institute of Victoria statistics show Castlemaine coming in tenth of the towns with the biggest jump in median house prices since 2006.

So even though it seems everyone is flocking to ‘the Northcote of the north’ there’s still time to find your piece of paradise. Like many well established country towns, Castlemaine has its highly desirable and tightly held pockets of real estate. Sometimes these are for historical reasons but mostly its obvious – walking distance to everything worth the journey for example, or great views.

The classic reasons for moving to country are all encompassed in Castlemaine. Fresh air, a genuine community, surrounding bushland, star filled skies – a pleasant and easier way of life. To this you can add a regular train service to the city, opening up possibilities for a daily commute.

The vibrant creative scene is also a highly regarded attraction culminating in the bi-annual Castlemaine State Festival. In common with many Victorian regions Castlemaine also offers the food and wine lover many local advantages.

So, although there is a boom, it isn’t over. Which means the time to move might be sooner than later. The State Government’s plan to enhance regional areas through its $1billion regional growth fund will only continue to make this area more desirable for those who are seeking the good life.

Changes to First Home Owners Grant

The Victorian State Government has announced changes from 1st July 2013 to the First Home Owners Grant. Unfortunately for those first home buyers looking at purchasing an established home, the grant is no longer available in any form from that date. Those first home buyers who enter into a Contract to buy or build a new home from 1st July 2013 will see a rise in the FHOG to $10,000 for homes under $750,000.

All is not lost for those buying established homes, as all eligible first home buyers will qualify for a reduction in stamp duty of 40% for purchases with a settlement date on or after 1st July 2013 for homes valued up to $600,000. This reduction will rise to 50% from 1st September 2014.

Welcome to our new website...

We thought it was about time to update our web presence...and here we have the new Griffin Conveyancing website. We think it's a vast improvement on what we previously had and would like to thank Jason for his ideas, imput and help in setting the site up. We're able to change things visually and copy wise on a regular basis, so who knows, those who avoided photo ops for adding to the site (me) might make it next time! Hope you like the new look.

Now for news at Griffin Conveyancing...In the New Year we welcomed our most recent staff member, Annette Moyce. Annette has spent much of her working life at the Commonwealth Bank, at various branches in Central Victoria...but more particularly the Castlemaine branch. Many locals will recognise Annette from her customer service role at the bank, and we are extremely happy to have her join our team.

Amber Roberts has just celebrated her fourth anniversary at Griffin Conveyancing...we believe it's the longest time she's stayed at a workplace, and we hope she's happy staying on for a long time yet!
